Simple yet subtle is actress Sayani Gupta’s jewellery mantra
Sayani Gupta came into limelight with her stellar performance in Margarita, with a Straw in 2014. Ever since the film released she has already worked with the top actors in Bollywood from Shah Rukh Khan in Fan to Akshay Kumar in Jolly LLB 2. She will soon be seen in Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos with Ranbir Kapoor.
Sayani, who is known for her unconventional choices, has a bohemian outlook towards her personal style. She doesn’t bother sticking to the Cartier and Tiffany of the jewellery world. A jewellery buff at heart, she believes that true beauty lies in simplicity. “Fun, classy yet quirky and edgy” is how she looks at her jewellery style.
She talks to The Jewellery Diaries giving a sneak peak of her jewellery style:
Less is more
Much like a girl of her age, Sayani is not an out-and-out a jewellery person. Most of the time she would be seen sporting rings and nose pin. A pair of gold statement earrings gifted by her grandmother is what she holds most special and always keeps it in her jewellery box.
All that glitters
All that glitters is not gold or diamonds for Sayani. A sucker for silver jewellery Sayani cherishes a hansuli (a tribal neckpiece) which she recently bought. She doesn’t really go for coloured stones and prefers matte gold to yellow, but at the same time she loves stunning vintage pieces in matte gold based on the edginess of their design.
Red carpet look
A classy backless gown accessorised with just a statement diamond earring is her red carpet style. She adds, “Too much of anything doesn’t look good.” She keeps her neck bare flaunting either a statement ring and an earring or just smaller rings.
Recently, while shooting for a fashion film she looked resplendent in pearls and diamonds encrusted regal neckpiece from Amrapali Jewellers with a nose accessory.
She laughs, “I looked every bit a blushing Indian bride in that neckpiece. That kind of statement piece is what I would definitely like to wear on my own wedding.”
Words of wisdom
She recommends wearing diamond pieces with satin or heavy silk while silver with crisp cotton and linen. As a jewellery enthusiast, she goes not by trend but by wow factor.
