This year’s Bombay Times Fashion Week was perhaps the most glamorous yet, not just because of Queenie Singh’s showstopping jewellery lineup, but because of the fantastically luxuriant pieces which were part of the show. We’re talking exaggerated gemstones, uncut precious stones, pure Rajasthani designs, without any of the stuffy, old school embellishments. The fashion week was proof that minimalism may be on its way out, as more and more fashionistas are leaning towards statement gemstones and ornate silhouettes, and are adapting modern ways to wear them.

Queenie Singh’s collection was all about wearable regality; if you’ve wondered about ditching cliched metallics, and instead opting for individualistic precious stones and breezy designs, Queenie’s new line would be a dream come true for you.

Chitrangada Singh

Chitrangada Singh Walks The Ramp At ‘Bombay Times Fashion Week 2019’

Queenie Singh’s showstopper Chitrangada Singh walked the ramp in an exquisite and beautifully detailed emerald set. We were awestruck by the dazzling array of cushion cut emeralds assembled so seamlessly without any gaudy metallic base work. This, by the way, is the key to wearing statement gemstones this summer, as more and more jewellery designers choose to focus on the gems. Chitrangada also wore a pair of emerald danglers, and a gigantic emerald ring with a serious regal vibe.

Queenie Singh collection

Queenie Singh has re-defined the way we wear luxury jewellery and exaggerated gemstones, as showcased by this chic and oh-so-dramatic neckpiece. The oversized gemstones could have easily made for an unnecessarily loud spectacle, but instead makes for an edgy, modern festive statement, and which is versatile enough to be a bridal set, as well as be a part of your evening resortwear ensemble.

Since, Queenie’s forte is dazzling gems, she made a case for keeping gold accents away with pieces like this one, which feature a glamorous silhouette with very little gold additions.

Karisma Kapoor

Karisma opts for a chunky tiered gemstone jhumka, to go with her lehenga. It’s simple, and borders on the minimalist trend as she ditches any other major accessories, but the look is no doubt a fresh one. We do wish Karisma would have gone for something more dramatic though.

Diana Penty

Diana Penty keeps it super simple by teaming up a vintage-inspired polki jhumkas with a fierce and summery lehenga, but we do wish, given Diana’s modelling roots, she would have been given some better bling to flaunt.

Divya Khosla Kumar

Divya wears one of the most surprising pieces of the evening, a Rajasthani-style polki and gold set, featuring a stunningly fresh detailing, by Moh Maya Jewellers. We love how Divya works the piece with her yellow and gold lehenga.

Hina Khan

Hina Khan’s paneled emerald and pearl necklace is exactly how you can switch up your heritage pieces. The fantastic curation of the piece and the choker detailing makes this number totally dreamy.
