Jewellery buffs and connoisseurs alike painstakingly sifted through hundreds of precious jewellery designs that took finesse and finery to a whole new level of magnificence at the Fura Retail Jeweller India Awards Grand Jury Meet this year.
At the Grand Jury Meet this year, the eminent jurors selected the Top 100 precious jewellery designs of India — that is, five standout designs nominated from the entries in each of the 20 award categories. The total pool of 425 top-rated designs displayed at the meet, from some of the most respected jewellery houses in India, was shortlisted by the jury in the first phase of online selection.
However different the styles, however unique the sensibilities, however diverse the backgrounds, all bound by one… a penchant for all things bling and beautiful. The jurors this time coming from different backgrounds beefed up the judging process adding their own respective dimension to the realm of jewellery. With 425 precious jewellery designs of India under glass shelves to be scrutinized through various parameters including first-hand wearing, it was a spectacle that mesmerized everyone in attendance. The 14th FURA Retail Jeweller India Awards (RJIA) Grand Jury Meet culminated on July 31st, 2018 and unveiled a whole new line-up of imagination and workmanship. The FURA RJIA is a yearly event and recognises the finest in the industry, raising the bar higher each time.
We bring you some of the snapshots of the whole process where celebrities were seenseen completely awestruck by the variety and high standards of the pieces that were up for judging.
A woman who dons many hats, actor-turned-entrepreneur, Perizad Zorabian was elated to grace the Grand Jury Meet. An all-diamonds person herself, she did not leave a chance to also talk about traditional pieces and evening wear that she also adores as a jewellery buff.
For fitness enthusiast and expert, Nawaz Modi Singhania, it was the innovative designs and need for colour along with inspiration which caught her keen eye. The exquisite pair of drop motif coloured gemstones earrings which she fell in love with made it to the top 100 too! We also witnessed her admiring a massive ruby hand cuff and we so appreciate her choice.
Bringing perspective into play, interior designer Namrata V Shroff took a liking to ear cuffs, cocktail jewels and especially a harem bracelet, clearly breaking away from conventional styles. She emerged a shutterbug’s delight posing eagerly while trying out various jewellery pieces.
CEO of Vu Technologies, Devita Saraf, showcased an ardent sense of art in the unusual jewels she chose at the meet. Dainty danglers encrusted with coloured gems along with many other fine designs made it to her wish list. A diamond studded dual finger motif ring caught her fancy instantly as she enjoyed posing with it on.
The bubbly star, Yashaswini Dayama from the movie Dear Zindagi had some winning pieces appeal to her. The peacock harem bracelet cuff and an elaborate necklace with enamelling looked exquisite on her, showing her taste for the ethnic and traditional.
TV’s popular face, Ridhi Dogra detailed her love for minimal, choosing comfort over bulky. However, given the rich designs, she couldn’t keep her hands off a pearl piece to grace her ears with a hook up in the hair. She also looked ecstatic while trying on a dazzling necklace, cuff and bangle actually fit for a royalty!
Popular TV series Reporters’ actor, Kritika Kamra who is also known for her style, got drawn to diamonds and emeralds. She enjoyed trying on a catchy pair of encrusted earrings from the coloured gems category.
Actor Priyamvada Kant found herself getting attracting to a dainty pair of bird motif earrings which was really unique with birds captured in different modes of flight. Elegant and delicate like the wearer, she sure spoke about her fondness for ethnic and temple jewellery.
Puja Banerjee boasted a n classy taste in jewels given the coloured gems haram necklace from the ‘Vivaha’ category. Next up was a vintage brooch with chains and a dangling clock with tools screaming of an old-world charm inspiration.
With a clear knowledge of what they were judging, and an eye for detailing, craftsmanship, creativity and exceptionality, the jurors also jewellery connoisseurs and buffs themselves, unanimously spoke about rich experience they had, picking up the best of best from the eclectic range presented to them.
