Dig in to check who whore what jewels at BAFTA 2020….
An air of sustainable fashion overrode the Royal Albert Hall in London for the British Academy Film Awards with rewear and recycle as the main fashion agenda. Jewels that are naturally reworn and recycled continued hogging the limelight in a plethora of subtle to bold styles. We choose a few hits and misses….
Royal, Classic & Sustainable
Duchess Kate Middleton subscribed to the BAFTA’s theme of sustainable fashion by rewearing a classic Alexander McQueen gown. Her jewellery too gave a miss to fleeting trends as she adorned a lariat style necklace and earrings from the Van Cleef & Arpels’ iconic Alhambra collection, Circa 1968. Those £13,000 worth of gems looked the part and made the Duchess look royally immaculate at BAFTA.
Red Haute With Corals
With a high neckline, long sleeves and a straight silhouette, Zoe Kravitz’s Yves Saint Laurent glittering gold gown was spot on. She paired it with Maria Tash ear studs and plain rings. However, Zoe’s coral pendant drop earrings complementary to her red lips was oomph extended!
While we were half-smitten by her flamenco-inspired feather gown, we cared to gaze at Scarlett Johansson’s long linear earrings by Nikos Koulis. Not sure if they really looked ‘teamed up’ but sure were lustrous as hell!
When you go bold with colour, you keep the jewels dam simple. Right, Charlize Theron? Your dainty fine jewellery choker from the Tiffany T1 collection and some teeny-weeny Tiffany & Co. earrings were bang on with your Dior haute couture violet ensemble.
Rescue With Jewels
Gillian Anderson prepped up with a mid-size strappy LBD for the night. She powered the otherwise neglectable garb with scintillating Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace and earrings. Overall, she was just plain classic. Sigh!
Classic Diamond Centrepiece
Florence Pugh wore a dynamic diamond number by Tiffany & Co with her shocking pink Dries Van Noten x Christian Lacroix long-tail outfit. The closed neckline underscored the diamond piece de resistance that she flaunted with aplomb on her neck.
Pretty Poser Wears Subtle Sparklers
While the Bombshell star didn’t need much moreother than perfect side poses, yet her black backless dress from Chanel had the shutterbugs drooling on her. Her floral diamond drop earrings and black ring that further upped her poise.
Go Boisterous With Coloured Gems
Saoirse Ronan went beautifully black in a ballgown designed by Gucci. However, to add a striking pop of contrast, she wore a pair of multi-coloured linear earrings, again by Gucci. Now that was some dazzling riot of colours.
This Game of Thrones star attended the evening wearing a black column-style dress with sequin embellishment by Schiaparelli. Her purple gemstone earrings give it just the right amount of pop it needed. Loved it!
Sway & Swing Jewels
An emerald green velvet dress with a silver halter neckline was a blockbuster on its own. However, Greta Gerwig wanted some more sizzle for sure. The drizzle down design of her earrings by Tatiana Verstraeten gave a party appeal to her look. Tada!
