Often referred to as the Oscars of Fashion, the annual awards gala of The Council of Fashion Designers of America or CFDA, turned out as splendidly as expected. What bowled us over was the indulgent excess of heavy-set, unapologetic sparkly bling which our leading celebs opted for, to amp up their very fancy ensembles. The CFDA Awards is a big deal in the fashion world and this year, it witnessed some of the leading names like the Hadid sisters, Brooke Shields, Jennifer Lopez turning heads with their fierce sartorial statements. This year, ornate metallic layers, or prominent chunky earrings were the show-stealers, and we were quite impressed to see names like J-Lo, Bella Hadid, Joan Smalls getting in on the trend, by seeking out some of the best spring jewellery trends.
Bella Hadid
Always a classics girl, Bella Hadid sported a clear-cut, dynamic pair of emerald cut drop diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz and ditched any other bling, to keep up the mood of her sassy black twirl pencil dress.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez decided to keep things sophisticated and fresh with a wide silhouetted chain link diamond earring from Harry Winston. We adore how meticulously J-Lo’s look has been crafted to make her seem edgy, but not over-the-top, and is in sync with her persona.
Lily Aldridge
Former Victoria’s Secret angel Lily Aldridge went for a semi-clingy Brandon Maxwell white gold cuff to go with her caped red gown. The reverse winged cuff was stylish, cool and just the right kind of elaborate. But we do wish Lily had gone the other way and had opted for a more adventurous ensemble, to add to the punk element.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid’s Louis Vuitton suit ensemble had so much going on already that the supermodel decided to only go for some chunky bling on her fingers. Gigi added in some pop coloured precious cocktail rings by celeb designer Lorraine Schwartz to break away from the monotony of her powder blue power ensemble.
Diane Kruger
Jewellery designer Ana Khouri’s bodycon jewellery is already taking Hollywood by storm, and you only need to take a look at Diane Kruger’s CFDA look for proof. The actor chose to wear an exceptionally well crafted pair of clingy bodycon cuff-style diamond earring called the Isabel earring, encrusted with 1.83-carats of diamonds on a white gold base; it’s meant enhance the contours of your ear lobe and features a butterfly fastening.
Brooke Shields
Does Brooke Shields even age, because she turned up at the CFDA, chanelling her inner disco queen in a pair of diamond danglers from Sachin & Babi’s resort collection. The shimmery abstract earrings were actually made to resemble a disco ball, and were the perfect accessories to Brooke’s bold ‘80s inspired look.
