If you’ve been anywhere on the Internet in the last two days, you know all about who wore what to this year’s Met Gala. The annual couture-meets-art extravaganza had a prolific theme this year, which focused on all things theatrical and exaggerated. The theme titled Camp: Notes On Fashion, is about excess, parody and passionate display of one’s wildest aura. Needless to say, everyone who is important in any way, showed up to this phenomenal event, decked to the nines.
Jewellery with a campy aesthetic usually draws us to chunky diamond pieces, or vivacious Edwardian jewels; but celebs like Gal Gadot, Gigi Hadid, Lily Collins and our very own DeepikaPadukone surprised us with their classy selection of jewellery, which were all superbly aligned to the intense genre that is camp. We saw something of everything in this year’s Met, and here’s just some of the best looks from the event.
Former supermodel Amber Valetta kept it incredibly classy as she flaunted a pair of chandelier-style Chopard earrings featuring several carats of pear-shaped emeralds, 21.43 carats of cushion-shaped diamonds, from their Haute Jewelry line up. Amber chose to match her striking statement piece with an old black one-piece bodysuit by Yves Saint Laurent.
J-Lo’s Met gala avatar was one of her personal bests. Jennifer opted for the single-statement look, which was very refreshing amid a sea of shimmery, coloured jewels. She wears an old school 65.32-carat cushion-cut purple sapphire surrounded by a cluster of marquise-shaped diamonds along with a pair of vintage chandelier earrings by the brand.
Deepika Padukone was a dreamy vision in an elaborate Zac Posen 3-D gown at the Met gala. Deepika usually goes for the mono statement look, but for this event, she stacked up on some serious bling by Lorraine Schwartz. Deepikawent for the multiple hoop trend, featuring pink sapphire hoop earrings and a cuff to match her colour palette.
Gigi Hadid perhaps sported the most unusual campy looks of the evening. She wore a three-piece Michael Kors sequined ensemble and paired it with a pair of radiant, well-cut triple hoop diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. We love the unusual silhouette of the breezy yet festive pair of earrings, which is so chic and wearable at the same time.
Emily Blunt and Sienna Miller
Brit babes Emily Blunt and Sienna Miller both kept itluxe in precious earrings by Parisian jewellery house Messika. While Emily went for the all-gold look with Messika’s Sun Tribe earring and a long gold finger enveloping ring, Sienna chose to accent her silver number with a stellar pair of diamond earrings from Messika’s High Jewelry line.
Lily Collins actually showed up in a Cartier necklace specifically designed by the label for the Met Gala. The Magnitude High Jewelry Necklace, as it’s called, features an assortment of emeralds, onyx, diamonds, assembled in a retro silhouette. The necklace can actually be broken down to be used separately as a necklace, a pendant and a brooch.
Of course, the host of the Met Gala Lady Gaga stuck to her trusty Tiffany & Co jewels for the Met Gala. Perhaps the campiest attendee of the event, Gaga chose a surprisingly understated gold and diamond necklace from the label. She wore a geometric butterfly choker from Tiffany &Co’s Blue Book Collection, featuring delicate, princess-cut diamonds set in 18 K textured gold. She also wore a dazzling array of colourful cocktail rings from the same label.
Miley Cyrus went for the fashion elite vibe with her ornate Bulgari diamond danglers. And matched some emerald bracelets and rings with her dress.
