Perhaps one of the most staple jewellery trends, shoulder duster earrings have been a part of our lives for years. And though we have moved over many of our ‘90s options, we can’t seem to quit long sweeping danglers which add an effortless edge to our ensembles. The main reason why long, sleek danglers never did go out of fashion is because runways and high fashion have been obsessed with it, and keep bringing it back. From Gucci to Chanel, everybody is making use of shoulder dusters, mainly as they are so versatile, and can be retro and futuristic at the same go.

It’s for a lifetime

You can easily opt for classic sweeping earrings, without the fear of looking basic. Sara Paulson wears a pretty standard shoulder duster piece designed by Forevermark for the 2017 Vanity Fair bash. The dangler, which belonged to their Black Label Collection, has a sleek and uncluttered finish, and features 10.5 carats of oval and cushion cut diamonds on an 18 K white gold base. It’s smooth, it’s timeless and does not overstep the vibe of her colour-blocked ensemble.

What’s new?

Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s (Kolkata) idea of shoulder duster earrings is of course, very different. He recently launched his Spring/Summer line Fiza where he showcased some heavily embellished long drop-style earrings, featuring several well-cut statement gemstones like rose cut diamonds and emeralds on 18 K yellow gold. He also gave the traditional ‘Pasa’ chandbalis a revamp to create a beautiful and luxe piece of statement shoulder duster, featuring diamonds, turquoise, emeralds, tourmalines in 24 K gold, which exudes a Mughal charm.

Keep it smooth

Most people prefer understated wearable shoulder dusters, so that they can pair it with more than one ensemble, and can also make it a part of their work wear.  This Claudia Oddi Rainbow Xl Mono-Earring, is the ideal fine jewellery as it has a 18 K white gold base, and features mini yellow sapphires, rubies, amethysts, orange sapphires. This disco-inspired piece is cool and can be a very stylish addition to your evening wear.
