In the last few years, heritage jewellery has strengthened its niche when it comes to bridal fashion; more and more brides are looking for heirloom-influenced jewellery. Janhvi Kapoor’s latest shoot for a bridal magazine proves just that; in the shoot, Janhvi sports a heavy-set hand-crafted jadau number made in 18K gold by the Rajasthan-based jewellery house Raniwala 1881(Jaipur). The enveloping necklace is embedded with flat-cut Polki diamonds, precious Russian and Zambian emeralds, and South Sea pearls. Notice that the design goes back to the old school intricate jadau and meenakari techniques, which are signatures of Rajasthani craftsmanship, and yet deliver a contemporary spin on the age-old concept.
