B-town divas are all about low-key glam, and this year’s Filmfare Awards was proof enough. We didn’t spot many heavy-set pieces or even chunky danglers. From Katrina Kaif to Deepika Padukone, every major name opted for dainty and chic numbers, just enough to complement them on their designer ensembles and natural glow-up. But if you really want to break fashion rules, coloured precious jewellery and edgy silhouettes can be your best friends
Kriti Sanon has always favoured the classic one-statement look, and for this year’s Filmfare, she went for something quirky. Kriti was spotted matching her jewellery to her ensemble as she wore a stunning pair of amethyst drop earring, with her Zara Umrigar halter purple gown.
Deepika’s look did not really need any blingy embellishments, and the start knew it too. Deepika wore a masterfully crafted chandelier danglers, featuring a tapering silhouette, which was a little predictable but classy.
By now, we all know Katrina hates overloading on jewellery. And for this year’s Filmfare Katrina chose the daintiest and petite set of diamond danglers, and surprised us with her superbly minimal take on cocktail dress-up
Richa Chadha never bores her with her wardrobe, and for Filmfare, too, she kept things fresh. She chose a really summery but festive waterfall style diamond earring by avante garde fine jewellery maker H.Ajoomal Fine Jewellery (Mumbai). We often get nervous about pairing big pieces with yellow or bright numbers, but Richa’s contemporary choice takes the cake.
How can you make retro diamond studs be edgy? Kiara Advani obviously knows how to nail it, as she wore a round diamond studs by Darshana and Sanjanaa Jewellers. Since, Kiara pairs her studs with a metallic grungy number, her vintage-inspired bling worked in her favour.
If you’re not sure about matching your jewellery with your clothes, Saiyami Kher does it perfectly. Saiyami wears a luxe sapphire and diamond stud with a matching ring from Diosa Jewels (Mumbai), to go with her royal blue cocktail gown.
Athiya pleasantly surprised her with her stunning modern-age danglers, featuring cushion-cut stones, and chunky diamond bracelets.
Fatima Sana Sheikh
Dangal girl Fatima was our favourite pick of the night, as she ditched all bling, and just settled on an edgy and playful ring by Darshana Sanjanaa Jewellers. Her Judith Leiber hamburger clutch, was of course, her ultimate accessory.
